Christmas Lights, Christmas carols, Christmas shopping, Christmas vacation, Christmas plans, Christmas sales, Christmas gifts, Christmas decorations, Christmas season, Christmas traditions… on and on and on.
Over the next month we will hear common songs, see common decorations, give common greetings, and ask about common plans - all about Christmas. Christmas will be EVERYWHERE in our culture. It cannot be missed, covered up, or ignored, but it can be misinterpreted.
We have a chance to share in the rhythms of Christmas with our culture. We have an opportunity to declare that all of these rhythms point to Jesus the Christ. Over the next four Sundays I will be preaching over [CHRIST]mas Rhythms - common practices in our culture through the Christmas season. These rhythms are: the anticipation of Christmas, Christmas Gifts, Christmas family time, and Christmas miracles.
I hope that you will be encouraged that Christmas is, a time for you to remember the great gift of Jesus, and it is an opportunity to tell this to the world (or ‘Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere…').
1. Think of a way that you, your family, your ReGroup, and others could join in these rhythms to celebrate the story of Christmas.
2. Think about bringing a friend to church with you on Sunday.
3. Think about giving to the Lottie Moon Mission Offering. This money goes directly to international missionaries telling the story of Christmas to the whole earth.
